League Round Up
Only 3 League fixtures took place today as 13 of the Leagues sides competed in the 1st Round Qualifying round of the FA Vase.
In the FA Vase games there were wins for Borrowash Victoria, Greenwood Meadows, Thurnby Nirvana , Holbrook Sports and Anstey Nomads drew.
Borrowash made a short trip to take on fellow EMCFL side Blackwell MW and goals from N. Hewer (2). S. Newton (2) and 1 from J. Pawley saw the Vics triumph 5-1. S. Atkinson getting the consolation for Blackwell.
Greenwood Meadows made home advantage pay when they beat Ollerton Town 2-1 at Lenton Lane. J. Prance was the Greenwood hero with both the goals.
There’s no stopping Thurnby. After 5 straight wins in the League they carried that form over to their Vase game at Racing Club Warwick where 5 goals from M. Melbourne and 1 from E. Williams saw the visitors safely through to the next round with a convincing 6-1 victory.
Only 3 weeks after playing Sleaford Town in the FA Cup, Holbrook Sports completed a cup double over the Lincolnshire side. 2 goals from D. Moon and 1 from L. Mitchell saw Holbrook continue their fine cup form.
Anstey Nomads lived to fight another day when they drew 1-1 with Castle Vale. A goal from D. Taylor ensured a replay at Crops ton road on Wednesday.
On the League front Gedling MW recorded a fine 2-0 win over visitors Holwell Sports. Goals from B. Greenhalgh and W. Hatfield enabled the home side to move up tp 7th in the League table.
Gresley once again pulled in the crowds. 256 spectators saw the home side battle out a 1-1 draw with visitors Gedling Town. R. Spence scoring for Gresley and B. Middleton for Gedling.
Heanor Town entertained Graham St Prims at the Town Ground and made light work of demolishing the visitor 5-1. G. Wells (3), J. Whitehead (2) were the Heanor marksmen with C. Briggs getting Prims consolation goal
