Match Report

The opening exchanges were quiet; the first real chance of the game saw Luke Plummer shoot straight at Walker in the Welfare goal.

12 Minutes into the game a spell of pressure from the home side, 3 corners, the third a short corner played to Boulton saw his cross to the near post finished into the roof of the net by Hatfield.

The game was tame with neither keeper troubled and poor finishing by both teams. Whatley replaced the Injured Plummer, and Howells game improved.

Stainsby down the right crossed for Whatley who shot over, then when Whatley was fouled on the left hand side of the box, his looping free kick hit the bar.

Whatley’s shot from eighteen yards forced Walker into a good save pushing the ball round the post for a corner.

The second half followed much the same pattern, the Welfare just perhaps edging it. Brown found Hall who shot just wide and the same player then picked out Greenhalugh who shot over Craggs bar.

Howells first chance of the second half came after twenty minutes, Stainsby shot wide and then from a direct free kick Whatley followed suite with his effort.

10 minutes from time Gedling put the game out of Howells reach Hall crossing from the right for Greenhalgh to head home unchallenged.

A disappointing display for Manager Matt Curtis and the Holwell travelling faithful, and Perhaps two or three should be having a think about their lethargic approach to the game.
