Skipper - First Team
With two competitive games in three days the old legs are feeling it this morning and unfortunately we only have two points to show for our efforts. However if I was honest we wouldn’t have come away with anything this time last season, so things to me are alot more positive than our current points tally shows.
The gaffer drafted in Hilly on Saturday and it was great to have him back on the pitch with me. Simon has always had a great eye for a pass but his leadership qualities were great to have on the pitch over the weekend. He’s been around the block afew times like me but his experience and his ability to run the game is something we’ve lacked for a long, long while.
The fixture list has dealt us a tough hand to get the season started and we play pretty much the whole of last season’s top half of the table first. So if we can change these draws in to wins you just never know where we might end up at the end of the season.
The gaffer has had to make changes over the weekend due to suspension and unavailability but it shows we’ve got strength in depth in the squad this season and we are going to need it over the whole campaign. There has been afew rumblings from those players not in the starting eleven over the recent weeks which is understandable because we all want to play however it’s a team game and that means the whole squad need to be pulling in the right direction. If we are to progress this season we need everyone pulling in the same direction in the club, from the first team players to the reserves to the management to the committee to the tea lady.
Any way it’s payback time on Saturday when we play Gedling for the third time in three weeks.
Cheers
Saddo
